Arthur Winston, Former President, IEEE

Dr. Arthur Winston, serving as Boston Representative and Technical Program Chair, opened the conference by highlighting Boston's unique position as a center of innovation and learning. A co-founder of the Tufts Gordon Institute and an IEEE Life Fellow, Winston brought decades of leadership experience to the event, having served as IEEE President in 2004.

Winston emphasized the city's extraordinary concentration of intellectual capital, noting the presence of 58 universities in the greater Boston area. He framed the conference as a natural extension of the region's long tradition of pioneering research and technological advancement, setting the stage for a multidisciplinary exploration of Wiener's enduring legacy.
